Cowan in the Community.
A company’s success is tightly linked to the communities in which it operates and helps to grow. At Cowan Insurance Group, giving back to the communities where we live and work is a core component of our corporate values. Through the combined efforts of our employees and The Cowan Foundation, we proudly donate in excess of $1.5M annually to local charities.
Established in 1995 in honour of Frank Cowan, the founder of Cowan Insurance Group, The Cowan Foundation is sustained by the ongoing success of the Princeton Holdings group of companies including Cowan Insurance Group, Frank Cowan Company, The Guarantee Company of North America and Cowan Asset Management. The goal of The Cowan Foundation is to make a positive difference in the lives of Canadians and the broader well-being of our communities.
Included in the programs and initiatives Cowan supports on an annual basis are the following:
Our employees are passionate about making a difference in their communities. By completing 50 volunteer hours each year, eligible Cowan employees and their families are able to direct a $750 donation on their behalf from The Cowan Foundation in support of qualified organizations.
Since inception, Cowan employees have dedicated over 39,000 volunteer hours to the program resulting in excess of $598,000 being donated to local charities.
Our annual golf tournament, established in 2002, has raised funds for a variety of charities supporting the communities where we do business. Every year, our business partners, community associates and clients contribute to the Cowan Charity Classic—which The Cowan Foundation then generously matches dollar-for-dollar. Over the past 18 years, the Cowan Charity Classic has raised over $1.7 million for community organizations like the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, iSisters Technology Mentoring in Ottawa, House of Friendship in Waterloo Region, Woodstock & District Developmental Services, the Hamilton Children’s Developmental Rehabilitation Program and Habitat for Humanity Canada. In 2019 we held our most successful golf tournament to date, raising $175,000 for Children’s Mental Health Ontario.
The Cowan Foundation is delighted to announce that Mary D’Alton will join The Foundation as Executive Director, effective January 2, 2019.
Mary is a highly respected leader in the hospitality industry and a passionate philanthropist.
Cowan Insurance Group, along with The Cowan Foundation, announced that a record $150,000 was raised at the 2018 Cowan Charity Classic golf tournaments.
