Readers’ Choice Award | Platinum Award
2022
Every year the Waterloo Region Record hosts Readers’ Choice, an online nomination site where the community submits their local favourite businesses/professionals in various categories. The 10 businesses/professionals with the most nominations move to the voting stage. Cowan Insurance Group was nominated for Best Insurance Brokerage in 2022 and received the Platinum Award.
Canada’s Best Managed Companies | Platinum Club Status
2019 - 2023
In 2019, Cowan Insurance Group attained Best Managed Companies Platinum Club Status after seven consecutive years of recognition by the prestigious awards program. We continue to maintain Platinum Club Status, requalifying annually.

Recognition for this award results from the continuous, disciplined execution of robust employee engagement strategies directly aligned with corporate business goals and objectives.
Cowan Insurance Group first attained this designation in 2015, and we proudly continue to maintain our status as one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures.
Top 10 Brokerages by Insurance Business Canada
2014, 2015
Insurance Business Canada ranks brokerages to find the top 10 performers in Canada. In 2014, Cowan Insurance Group ranked seventh and in 2015 moved up to number six. Each brokerage was evaluated according to several criteria to receive their overall ranking.

Maureen Cowan, Co-CEO and Chairman of The Cowan Foundation, was presented with the Michael R. Follett Community Leader of the Year Award at the 2015 Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
Maureen Cowan is a resident of the Waterloo Region, a proud business leader, community supporter, and long-term Chamber advocate. She has joined various boards and committees and strongly believes in organizations giving back to communities that support local business growth.
