14th Annual Cowan Charity Classic Raises $124,000 to Support KW Counselling Services & The Royal

Cambridge, ON—August 18, 2015—Cowan Insurance Group is pleased to announce that following their 2015 Cowan Charity Classic golf tournaments in the Waterloo and Ottawa Regions, they have raised a combined total of $124,000 to provide to our selected charities, including a donation of $68,000 from The Cowan Foundation. This year’s funds will be directed towards KW Counselling Services in Waterloo Region and The Royal in Ottawa.

The Cowan Charity Classic, which began in 2002, has donated over $1 million through this event thanks to generous contributions from Cowan’s insurance company sponsors, business partners, golf tournament participants and annual matching by The Cowan Foundation. Over the history of the tournament, we have supported organizations such as The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada; iSisters Technology Mentoring; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Pathways to Education; and the John Howard Society.

“The funds raised through the 2015 Cowan Charity Classic are being donated to KW Counselling Services for their Walk-in Counselling Clinic, and to the Royal’s Campaign for Mental Health,” said Heather McLachlin, President, Cowan Insurance Group.  “We have observed the difference both organizations are making in the important area of mental health, and are proud to be able to help them in their delivery of proactive innovative expedited services that are vital to individuals in our communities and beyond.”

“2015 marks a momentous year for The Cowan Foundation as we celebrate 20 years of building community” explained Maureen Cowan, Chairman of The Cowan Foundation. “Each year, the Cowan Charity Classic offers us an additional opportunity to partner with, and support, charities that matter to our employees, business partners, and clients, and that allows us to continue making a positive impact in Canadian communities.”
