June is Men’s Health Month – Awareness, Prevention, Education & Family

Men’s Health Month is celebrated worldwide to increase awareness in the health of our male population. It was founded in 1992 by a group of men’s activists, therapists, and writers interested in improving the health and well-being of men, boys and families.

There is an ongoing, increasing and predominately silent crisis in the health and well-being of men. Due to a lack of awareness, poor health education, and culturally induced behaviour patterns in their work and personal lives, men’s health and well-being are deteriorating steadily.

The goal for Men’s Health Month is to encourage all men, young and old, to check for any preventable diseases or illnesses that could be affecting their health. In some cases, there could be no physical signs of illness, which can make it hard to find and diagnose a possible disease without getting the proper checkup.

International Men’s Health Month is associated with the colour blue. Blue ribbons are worn in support of research for many cures for new illnesses that are present in young boys and men. Men of all ages should be checked on a regular basis, whether you feel healthy or not, it’s better to be safe than to be too late to prevent anything.

Make an appointment with your doctor or family physician today. Beat the odds and ensure you and your family are 100% healthy at all times.
