Your Insurance Coverage

We offer comprehensive coverage for pressure, electrical and mechanical equipment required to operate and regulate the building shell and supply the internal utilities. The equipment object (see below) is covered, along with any direct and indirect damage surrounding it.

Objects include boilers, hot water heaters, pumps and compressors, heating and cooling systems, steam cookers, kettles, electrical panels, transformers, electric motors, fans and blowers, telecommunications equipment, copiers, fax machines, ovens and microwaves, diagnostic equipment, printers and cash registers.

The Equipment Breakdown policy offers a number of optional coverages:

• Plant production machinery and office machines
• Extra costs due to current bylaw enforcement
• Consequential loss and water damage
• Business interruption including extra and expediting expenses
• Hazardous substances and ammonia contamination
• Professional fees

Coverage is often written on a separate form but may be incorporated into the property policy by removing certain exclusions. Please note - this policy allows the insurer to suspend coverage on a specific piece of equipment if it is judged to be in dangerous condition.
